Review of Big Bang Generation by Guardax

The idea of the Twelfth Doctor crossing over with Bernice Summerfield seemed so incongruous when I heard about it, but here we are. The only problem for me is that this book needs a phD in Benny lore to understand what's even going on. I spent some time wondering 'am I supposed to know who this person is?'. On top of that it's a pretty complex story, with there being an evil pyramid run by the Ancients of the Universe that needs to be restored with the Glamour or the universe will explode. Finally, some of this didn't quite feel like the Twelfth Doctor specifically to me, maybe a side effect of him being put in Benny land.

After all the negativity though, this book is extremely snappy and well-written as you'd expect from Gary Russell. Despite all the complexity it's a zippy read and you're never bored at any point. If I knew the full Benny backstory I could see this getting to a four for me, but it seemed pretty impenetrable at points.
