Bit of a mixed one. Indira Varma is always a great performer, but this kind of story is something we’ve gotten a lot of in the Big Finish Torchwood range before, and that comes across to me as remarkably apparent here. This is quite similar to “Fall to Earth,” which was only the second release of the entire range. You have a Torchwood operative and a civilian on the phone with someone during a dangerous event and the story is about their relationship as the Torchwood operative tries to keep the civilian on the line. While this is harmless, and even I tend to come to the Torchwood range most for it’s experimentation, and this story doesn’t have anything different to say that other stories haven’t already said before. At a brisk forty three minutes too, it’s a lot shorter than your average Torchwood episode. Still, I don’t regret listening to it, as more time with Suzie is always pleasant, and I look forward to her next story later this year.
