The First Doctor #26

'An Unearthly Woman' (2019) from The Diary of River Song.

Aside from its perfectly serviceable story with River Song posing as a teacher and policewoman in hunt of a student-possessing bounty hunter monster from another dimension, this is more importantly an intriguing introduction to the An Adventure in Space and Time cast. David Bradley in his two short scenes serves just as well as The Doctor as he does in Twice Upon a Time, and I look forward to getting some more quality time with him. Claudia Grant is playing Susan a bit too posh for my liking but I'd like to see how she goes, but Jamie Glover really doesn't feel like Ian to me at all unfortunately. Maybe I'm just hearing Andrew Treneman from Waterloo Road too much out of it. Jemma Powell however absolutely steals the show. She fully nails Jacqueline Hill's voice and inflections, and I'm very excited to hear her again in The Age of Endurance.

I still can't say I'm a big fan of River Song, but I'm still looking forward to hearing more of this series as I'd like to like her eventually.
