The second story is An Apple a Day by George Mann.  It isn’t bad as such, but I found it a little ordinary. As I noted in my review of the BBV audio The Green Man (as part of my History of the Universe marathon), The Seeds of Doom basically did all there is to do with the Krynoids. Nothing particularly new, or interesting, happens here and the only vaguely intriguing aspect of who actually sent the Krynoid pods to Trenzalore is never actually explained.
