“PLAY IT AGAIN, STARKEY!”
Annoying Kid plays the guitar, so I respect him more now.
All the terrible music and singing drives me crazy, and that is sadly a key element of this episode. It’s like a really badly made version of The Devil’s Chord.
There’s another storm coming in. Last time this happened, we ended up with a decent episode. This time we get some of the worst visualisations of storms and their effects I’ve ever seen.
They are clearly going for a proper drama here, but it just never feels like it, despite the real pickle Forgettable Girl finds herself in and the storm supposedly wrecking most of London.
Annoying Kid plays the hero yet again, K9 does nothing, and Smug Face pops up just to remind us all that he is very smug.
The Forgettable Girl part of the plot isn't too bad (there’s even a sweet little character moment here, once Annoying Kid arrives to save her!), but all the stuff with the Aeolian feels very tacked on and so messy.
Seeing Annoying Kid so sad once he realises that Forgettable Girl fancies Bad Starkey and not him is the first time I sympathise with the kid.
The Aeolian looks like a fancy version of Alpha Centauri from the Peladon stories in Doctor Who, and the concept isn’t too bad, even if the execution is.
