Review of A Death in the Family by SnepReviews

5 July 2025

The conclusion of an arc that was years in the making, Hex, Evelyn, The Forge, everything originally set up in Project: Twilight comes to a head here. It's a great, somber ending to Evelyn Smythe's story and wraps up all loose ends in a magnificent bow to conclude the series of stories that starts with Forty-Five. The plot, performances, everything is done masterfully, and feels like an entire Doctor Who season arc bundled in one two-hour story. The hype around this is real, but if you're going through Evelyn's stories chronologically, do not listen to this until you've listened through the Hex stories up to this point. I made that mistake, as Death In The Family is very much a 7-Ace-Hex story that features Evelyn than an Evelyn story, and does not hit unless it's at the end of this part of Hex's arc.
