ROGER PUGH: I was frozen for a moment, staring at the dead alien. Just the words sound ridiculous! I couldn't help but stare. Looking at its skin, the texture of it, the imperfections. That’s what they always get wrong in the films. Special effects always look flawless. Life isn't flawless. Features are lopsided. Skin, even wet scaly skin has pockmarks and unhealthy patches. There was a – I suppose it was a scar on its left cheek. Where had it got that? A little piece of history, written right there on this impossible face. It was amazing. But –

(Pause.)

ROGER PUGH: I think there's something wrong with me, Jessica. I'm just so numb. It's like I'm miles away, and the rest of the world's a whisper.
