“The legendary first serial of Doctor Who, without which we wouldn't spend time on this forum today! Here are some of my thoughts: The iconic nature of the first episode means it's one of the most important pieces of sci-fi ever produced...”
“Watched Rose again two days ago and I loved it. I think the decision to focus on her instead of the Doctor is fantastic and I think this is the best introduction episode to the show… 5/5 and a favorite for me!”
“In a word, fantastic! Probably my favourite episode featuring those pesky pepperpots. The set up of their appearance is great, & Eccleston is just firing on all cylinders here with a brilliant performance in every scene, that really sells how terrifying the Daleks are to new audiences. & how terrifying the Doctor can be...”
“This is one of those rare stories for me - a bona fide 5/5. I love absolutely everything about it. It just has memorable scene after memorable scene. The writing is tight and the characters wonderful. Jacqueline Hill is amazing and, frankly, I don't understand why this story doesn't top more polls.”
“I mean, Parting of the Ways is just the perfect finale, isn't it? ... When people talk about how the Daleks were scariest in Dalek, I simply point them to this episode later the same season. Massive, war mongering, actually incredibly deadly, the Daleks here really feel like the dominating force of evil they were written to be and the god complex the Emperor gains doesn't exactly help.”
“I love this story. I love how bleak it is, how ambitious it is. I love that all our characters get stuff to do, and it's genuinely compelling the whole time. I mean Barbara in her bus is truly truly iconic. As for Susan? Her leaving genuinely makes me cry.”
“It's groundbreaking, so fresh and a dyed-in-the-wool classic. Many things that The Time Meddler did for the first time have since become staples of the modern series.”
