Comic Club

Join us as we read Doctor Who comics together!

Each fortnight we pick comics to complete, then we discuss them in the forums and rate it on the site. All participants earn a "Comic Club" badge for each one they complete!

Every other Wednesday we read a new comic from the Titan series.

The Comic Club is open to all! Pick a comic from any we have featured so far and write your thoughts!

This page is a work in progress!

“Special snowflakes we all might be, but there really are giants of art,” is a line used so well in the context of The Arts in Space. That was nothing but an exception read. I've been putting off reading these comics so this was a great story to return to. There's so much I love about this story. Specifically it feels like what Doctor Who should be more often, like when Gabby first sets out on an alien planet and is moved to tears by the experience. Or the way the story is framed around her diary and experiences travelling with the Doctor for the first time. It's all really good stuff and really showcases what is great about Gabby.

“Wow - what a story! By far the best one yet both in art & storyline. Great characterisation even of the minor characters, and the Angels looked genuinely terrifying! Also thought-provoking and even educational for those who knew little about WW1.”

“Generally though I really liked this story, A gang story with 12 isn't something I thought I'd see but I'm glad I did, love the history here, love the general vibes, and some fun and funky worldbuilding (I like the reference to the first of 12's comics, the new aliens are fun, and the time gun of rassilon is so so stupid I can't help but love it at least a little).”

“I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed Give Free or Die (I even added it to my favorites). I think of myself as an author, at least some of the time, so I found the idea of the author as a monster and the book as a living entity of its own as quite appealing. I also think “Prohibited Sphere” is a funny name.”

“Cindy, Cleo and the magic sketchbook: I like seeing an outsider's perspective on the doctor and people traveling with him, and the sketchbook really makes full use of comics as a medium. The impressions of other companions Gabby has are cool too.”

“Great use of the comic format to tell a story in reverse and go for an experimental approach. The Doctor is well-written. This is fast-paced and keeps shifting all the time, and it's occasionally difficult to follow along. But yay for more Nimons!”

“Dialogues between Doctors is delightful. There's not much more to them aside from having the most dumb fun with them as you could have, but that's what these crossovers are for. That's the goal this comic aims at. Optimal stupid 'multi-Doctor event', as it says. For the slightly more serious moments we have companions. Not that they get highly emotional beautiful scenes or something (maybe attempts at them) but they're not as zany. (Plus there is reference to Gabby sketchbook so like best thing ever)”
