With her very own audio drama series from Big Finish Productions on the way, you may be interested in checking out the Thirteenth Doctor’s other appearance in the Doctor Who EU (Expanded Universe).

I’ve compiled a guide that should hopefully help you discover some new Thirteenth Doctor adventures to try!

Target Books

The Target range of books adapt Doctor Who episodes into novels.
A few Thirteenth Doctor episodes have been given the Target treatment.

Kerblam! is a controversial episode for some, so I recommend checking out Pete McTighe’s adaptation of his script if you struggled with the TV story, or if you loved it!

Joy Wilkinson has novelised her episode The Witchfinders. This expands the television adventure, adding new layers of depth.

Here’s a full list of the Thirteenth Doctor’s appearances in Target books:

New Series Adventures

The New Series Adventures is a range of original novels that have been coming out since 2005.

They always focus on the current Doctor and their companions.

In 2018, the Thirteenth Doctor became the lead in the New Series Adventures, with three standalone novels: The Good Doctor, Molten Heart, and Combat Magicks.

Audiobook readings of these stories are also available.

Team TARDIS Diaries

The Team TARDIS Diaries were a short-lived series of books told in the format of a diary written by the Thirteenth Doctor’s companions.

Sadly, only two books, Paper Moon and Ghost Town, were released, but they’re still worth checking out.

TITAN Comics

The publisher TITAN Comics is well known for their Doctor Who range. They have released several Thirteenth Doctor stories.

The Many Lives of Doctor Who is a comic anthology set during the Doctor’s regeneration in Twice Upon a Time.

If you missed the Christmas specials during Thirteen’s era, you can read TITAN’s Christmas comic, available in the graphic novel Time Out of Mind.

If you’re a Tenth Doctor fan, you’ll be pleased to know the Thirteenth Doctor has teamed up with him several times, in Alternating Current, A Little Help from My Friends, and the Time Lord Victorious comic Defender of the Daleks.

But there’s also the main Thirteenth Doctor comic range, which starts in A New Beginning. These are definitely recommended to get a taste of TITAN’s Doctor Who comic range.

Doctor Who Magazine Comics

The official Doctor Who Magazine is well known for its comic strip.

The Thirteenth Doctor’s comics have been collected in the graphic novels Mistress of Chaos, The White Dragon, and Monstrous Beauty (collected alongside stories featuring other Doctors).

Mistress of Chaos has an ‘arc’ connecting its stories, but the other volumes don’t.

The DWM comics are of particular interest as they are currently the only appearance of the Doctor’s companion Dan Lewis in the EU.

Short Stories

The Thirteenth Doctor has appeared in a large selection of short stories.

Star Tales features a host of stories where the Doctor and her fam bump into famous historical figures, such as Pythagoras, Elvis Presley, and Audrey Hepburn.

The Adventures in Lockdown anthology is a lovely book with loads of stories written by some familiar Doctor Who writers that can easily be dipped into when you’re looking for something quick to read.
