The Monoids were a race of monocular beings who worked as a slave race for the humans aboard the Ark which was taking them to a distant planet to escape the destruction of Earth. The Monoids were mute and communicated through sign language. Due to the humans contracting a virulent cold virus from Dodo, over a period of 500 years, the Monoids gained control of the Ark and subjugated the remaining humans. They developed technology which allowed them to speak and used numbers to distinguish themselves.
